The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is part of the FIRST (For inspiration And Recognition of Science and Technology) program. Started by entrepreneur Dean Kamen, FIRST has four levels of participation from the earliest grades through high school. FRC alone involves almost 100,000 students on nearly 4000 teams in 35 nations. Additionally, FIRST provides over $80 million in college, university, and technical program scholarships.
